Tell It Tuesday- Thankful

For weeks now, I have been trying to figure out a way this holiday season to inspire my fans to give back just a little. We are all strapped for cash this time of year, but in our household we try to remember that someone, somewhere needs something a little more than we do.

We became an Army family this past year and in doing so have learned about several great programs that in their own ways are trying to help fellow service members and their families. There are many servicemembers who will receive little to nothing while deployed, many sitting in a hospital where a card or blanket will cheer them up or a family struggling who could use some extra food.

I (Megs) have decided to offer this to all of my fans and customers. Join one of these programs (links will be below), stay commited and you will receive a 10% off discount on all orders and FREE ahipping. Our family decided that for every time Seth is away longer than 60 days we would donate in some way. We adopted a soldier while he was at BCT, we have done Cup of Joe for a Joe, and we will be donating (ongoing) once 8 of our friends deploy. It's taught our children far more than I could ever have imagined. They see us giving back, love helping with letters and care packages. Our adopted soldier has become a part of their lives. I must read the letters from our soldier 12-15 times before they are done with it!

Rules (these are in prelim stage so bear with me)
1. You must email me some sort of proof you joined a cause. If you have a deployed soldier, maybe adopt the unit.

2. You must keep it ongoing, and show proof you have

3. Contact me before place an order (if custom) or send a reminder if you buy instock and I will refund.

Here are some Links to some really great causes:

Soldiers Angels http://soldiersangels.org/ This group has something for everyone. From sending cards, care packages, blankets to adopting a soldier

USO http://www.uso.org/programs.aspx The USO has been around for many years with the famous motto "Til they all come home"

Drum Hike http://drumhike.com/ Troy is walking 7,000 miles across the country to help struggling military families and to get a national day to honor our deployed service members

Cup of Joe for a Joe http://www.greenbeanscoffee.com/coj/index.php A small donation sends a cup of joe to a service member.

If you have a military cause you have donated to this year or want to donate to that isn't listed, simply let me know!

  1. How many times a month do you want us to do a Cup of Joe for a Joe? There is no ongoing option...

  2. I was unaware of the different cause for soldiers... i have only ever supported family or church members who have been deployed.

I have learned to be thankful for such little things like blankets and a house this past year (after not having one a few times) But I am most thankful for my Lord and the love He shows us no matter what.

Serving and supporting others is one way that I have always found to share with others what little I may have.... and they are always appreciative.

Thanks for sharing the links I will hav eto check them out and discuss it with my husband
